Clinton supporters 4 McCain

Why vote for McCain?

Probably the most common question we're asked in feedback emails is, "Why, if you're Hillary Clinton supporters, would you EVER vote for evil republican John McCain or any other evil republican" or, words to that effect. (Their illiterate mis-spells corrected here, of course.)

We're also getting emails asserting that the only reason anyone WOULD vote for McCain is because they're racist. Both common questions/statements have the same source -- blind partisanship and built in excuse-making and blame-shifting. Both assume simple motives, both assume everyone's a puppet, parrot robot like the writers of these emails obviously are. For them and everyone else, there is a simple answer:

Same reason we were for Hillary Clinton and voted for her in the primaries, 18 million of us. We were and are against Junior Senator Barack Hussein Obama for the same reasons as always -- he's not qualified, he's not experienced, he's not honorable and we don't trust him to hold the nation's Highest Office. John McCain is the only viable candidate left who we believe has all those qualities and more.

This is a man who served his country in a time of war, whose grandfather and father were both admirals in the United States Navy, who was himself a naval aviator, and was almost killed on July 29, 1967 when he was at the epicenter of the fire aboard the USS Forrestal. He escaped from his burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded; McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments. The ensuing fire killed 134 sailors and took 24 hours to control.

With the Forrestal out of commission, McCain volunteered for assignment with the USS Oriskany where he continued to fly combat missions until being shot down over Hanoi on Oct. 26, 1967.

His political life has always been met with resistance and challenges -- and he has always stood up to them. A good early example of that was in 1982, during his first-ever run for political office.

McCain ran as a Republican for an open seat in Arizona's 1st congressional district. As a newcomer to the state, McCain was hit with repeated charges of being a carpetbagger. McCain responded to a voter making the charge with what a Phoenix Gazette columnist would later label as "the most devastating response to a potentially troublesome political issue I've ever heard":

"Listen, pal. I spent 22 years in the Navy. My father was in the Navy. My grandfather was in the Navy. We in the military service tend to move a lot. We have to live in all parts of the country, all parts of the world. I wish I could have had the luxury, like you, of growing up and living and spending my entire life in a nice place like the First District of Arizona, but I was doing other things. As a matter of fact, when I think about it now, the place I lived longest in my life was Hanoi."

We'll take McCains experience, dedication, patriotism, decades of honorable service, his staying power, courage, stamina and optimistic outlook for the future of this country over Obama's cult-like near-religious fearmongering, cowardly race baiting and class warfare campaign. He's shown us no changes thus far, relying on the decades-old, dogeared playbook of 'how to get elected as a Democrat.'

We won't waste our vote by trying to write-in Hillary or staying at home -- we will vote for John McCain, for REAL change. That change being, having a qualified, experienced, patient, hardened man as POTUS for the first time since 1989.

There's a new website out there you might want to check out. It's Clintons for McCain.com. Christi Adkins, the young lady in the picture above, just started out on this venture and already has well over 1,000 members, including the Average American! The article above is just a sample of her writing. Be sure to read some of the forum posts too. There are a lot of intelligent people there. One last thing, from now on I will use my new (stolen) name for the liberal presidential candidate, NOBAMA!

900 days!

It's been 900 days since Obama was last in Iraq. Just exactly how does this make him the expert on what to do over there?????? Has he EVER had a one on one meeting with General Petraeus? That big bag of hot air really scares the Hell out of me. To think that someone like him has a very real chance of becoming our next President should scare every one. I sure hope that you conservatives do what's right when November gets here, and most of you know what I mean by "right." We can not survive 4 or worse yet 8 years of that pompous, elitist, condescending jerk! John McCain needs every vote he can get! I'm hoping that a lot of white voters will take heed of the percentage of blacks voting for Obama. When he won 90% of the black vote in many states; was that racial? YES! When we hear black Republicans who have never voted for a democrat before saying that they are going to vote for Obama; is that racial? YES! Twenty years in Reverend Wrights congregation; is that racial? YES! If I say that I hope 90% of white's vote for McCain; is that racial? YES! So sue me!!

Warriors

The American Infantry Soldier

The average age of an American Infantry soldier is 19 years. He is a short-haired, tight-muscled kid who under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's; but he has never collected unemployment either. He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sports activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hipp hop or jazz or swing and 155 mm Howitzers. He is ten or fifteen lbs lighter now that when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reasseble it in less than that. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or of a grenade launcher and use either one efficiently if he must. He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional. He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march. He obeys orders instantly without hesitation, but he is without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient. He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts. If you're thirsty he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low. He has learned to use his hands like weapons and his weapons like they were his hands. He can save your life - or take it because that is his job. He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still get ironic humor out of it all. He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime. He stood atop mountains of dead bodies and helped to create them. He has wept in public and in private, for friends that have fallen in combat unashamed. He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate thorugh his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. It is an odd twist, day in day out, far from home, he defends their right of freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American fighting man that has kept this country free for over 200 years. He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

I don't know where I got this, probably from something someone emailed me, or maybe something I found out in internet land. I usually file odds and ends, with where I got them, in case I might need the information in the future. This time I didn't note the source. I left it verbatim as I found it, but I hasten to add that he-him-his-etc should be construed as either sex. As a veteran myself, I can not say enough good about our men and women in uniform. They truely are America's BEST!

Last "Surge" Brigade coming home

The 3rd Infantry Division's 2nd Brigade is "short." They will be heading home next month after serving their 13 month tour of the sand box. They have been operating in the Arab Jabour area of Southeastern Baghbad. Some of their accomplishments included lowering the various types of attacks from about 30 per week to only 1 per week, detaining over 800 suspects, and finding over 600 weapon caches. They also cleared 6,000 houses and destroyed over 500 IED's.

During their tour, 2nd Brigade soldiers’ main duties have included blocking weapons from entering the Iraqi capital, protecting the local population and quashing sectarian violence. The soldiers also have focused on making Iraqi security forces more capable, fostering the local governance and economy, and setting up Iraqis for long-term self-reliance.

Back in March 2008, I posted about an effort in Arab Jabour to recruit 300 men into the "Sons of Iraq." From that humble beginning, there are now 5,000 members. There are also neighborhood councils in the towns and cities, private clinics are opening, 25 schools have been built or repaired, and water and electricity are back in service.

“As we prepare to redeploy as the last of the five surge brigades,” Ferrell said, “it's clear that the government of Iraq has begun to shoulder a larger responsibility for the citizens in the area that we have operated".

“Furthermore, the capacity and capabilities of the Iraqi army has improved All these vehicles of change combined to generate momentum towards prosperity, security and self-reliance.”

Ask the men and women of the 2nd Brigade if the surge is working. I will bet that I know what their answer would be.

HELL YES!

I would recommend that you follow this link to read the rest of this great news story.

McCain's Energy and Climate Speech

Credit for the picture goes to NYPress.

John McCain may have just given the best speech of his life. He covered all the salient points necessary for a well-planned energy policy. Look for much more from McCain on this subject in the future. It is one issue that he kills Obama on. Here are a few selected paragraphs of his speech:

People are hurting, small farmers, truckers, and taxi drivers unable to cover their costs, small business owners struggling to meet payroll, the cost of living rising and the value of paychecks falling. All of this, in large part, because the price of oil is too high, and the supply of oil too uncertain. These citizens believe their government has a duty to finally assure the energy security of this country, and they are right.

Somehow the United States -- in so many ways the most self-reliant of nations -- has allowed and at times even encouraged this state of affairs. This was a troubling situation 35 years ago. It was an alarming situation twenty years ago. It is a dangerous situation today. And starting in the term of the next president, we must take control over our own energy future, and become once again the master of our fate.

What is certain in energy policy is that we have learned a few clear lessons along the way. Somehow all of them seem to have escaped my opponent. He says that high oil prices are not the problem, but only that they rose too quickly. He doesn't support new domestic production. He doesn't support new nuclear plants. He doesn't support more traditional use of coal, either.

So what does Senator Obama support in energy policy? Well, for starters he supported the energy bill of 2005 -- a grab-bag of corporate favors that I opposed. And now he supports new taxes on energy producers. He wants a windfall profits tax on oil, to go along with the new taxes he also plans for coal and natural gas. If the plan sounds familiar, it's because that was President Jimmy Carter's big idea too -- and a lot of good it did us. Now as then, all a windfall profits tax will accomplish is to increase our dependence on foreign oil, and hinder exactly the kind of domestic exploration and production we need. I'm all for recycling -- but it's better applied to paper and plastic than to the failed policies of the 1970's.

I once heard from a wise old man that "you know the best compromise has been reached when all sides leave the table frowning." I really could care less about "global warming" and he could have left that part out. I suppose this is the compromise I have to accept. See me frown.

I encourage you all to read this speech in it's entirety here. It is very well worth the effort.

Flag Day

Tomorrow, June 14th is my day. Kindly remember to display me proudly. Thank you.

Phishing for information

Army military news reported yesterday on a new phishing scam to obtain personal information from families of our fallen servicemen and women. This is probably to aide the scum in identity theft. As if these poor families haven't gone through enough already, some disgusting vermin are trying to profit from their grief. I thought I'd seen low, but this has got to be the bottom of the barrel! No matter what your political position is, no matter what you think of the Iraq war, please spread the word about this despicable scam to every one you know. Help protect the families of our fallen troops from this or these crooks! You may access the full story here.
