Freedom Under Fire: U.N. Anti-Blasphemy Resolution - With Christopher Hitchens

The 18th comment was mine, reprinted here so you don't have to go looking for it. Sorry for the vulgarity, but, understand, I was REALLY PISSED OFF! Is there no end to the insanity?

"Fuck the United Nations, fuck Islam, and fuck the 57 Islamic countries pushing this bullshit!! Tell the UN to find another country to set up in and use that valuable space for something else, and GET OUT OF THAT PISSANT ORGANIZATION! "

ACORN "HOME SAVERS" to the rescue!

The fun begins! ACORN plans to save all the homes that would be foreclosed on if they didn't stick their nose into it. I wonder how much tax money THAT will cost us. It almost sounds like they are threatening violence. Of course, they are being careful not to phrase it that way, but you can bet that violence WILL flare up when they try to stop a home from being taken over, especially the ones already vacated that they think they can just march right back into. You know, the banks and the government are already working on a solution that is going to cost us WORKING taxpayers, who actually DO pay taxes, a fortune. Why does ACORN think they just HAVE to be a part of the problem? Can you say PAY OFF!!!!???? Here's the link to ACORN's own website article with the disgusting details. Be sure to see page two also so you can sign-up to be a "HOME DEFENDER"! TA DAT TA DA!! Is that like a superman or spiderman or wonder woman or something? Here I come to save the daaaaaay! Mighty Mouse is on his waaaay! Won't that be fun, staging a sit-in with a really cool bunch of the nicest people you ever want to meet? Just think, you can take a break from your daily grind of working just to pay for the things that Uncle Sam would be glad to give you, and why work to pay those nasty taxes, nobody else does these days. Here's the first couple of paragraphs:

On Feb. 19, ACORN members will launch a new tactic in fighting foreclosures: civil disobedience. Participants in the ACORN Home Savers campaign nationwide will simply refuse to move out of foreclosed homes, or in some cases, will move back in. ACORN homesteaders intend to squat in their homes until a comprehensive, federal solution for people facing foreclosure is put in place.

"What else can you do?" asks Louis Beverly, co-chair of the Baltimore ACORN Foreclosure Fighters. "After you've used all your legal options, your last resort is civil disobedience. We're talking about families who have been in their homes 20 or 30 years. People who are assets in the community, who look out for the elderly, who have community associations, and these are the people being kicked out of the community."

Not good, not anywhere near good. If anyone has, oh, let's say, um, 48 hours to waste, you might be able to read most of the important parts. William Ayers turned back at Canadian border

This incident happened three weeks ago, but I thought it was still worth posting about. It seems as though the canadians have much better border security than we do, which, I guess isn't really saying very much, is it? NObama's buddy, Bill Ayers thought he could just wander on up to Canada and spew forth his radical message north of the border. WRONG! Follow this link to read the entire article in the Toronto Star. He doesn't have any idea why he was turned back, he says he would have let himself in. HA! Here's part of the article.

An American education professor, one of the founders of a radical 1960s group known as the Weather Underground, which was responsible for a number of bombings in the United States in the early 1970s, was turned back at the Canadian border last night.

William Ayers, a professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and a leader in educational reform, was scheduled to speak at the Centre for Urban Schooling at University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. But that appearance has now been temporarily cancelled.

"I don't know why I was turned back," Ayers said in an interview this morning from Chicago. "I got off the plane like everyone else and I was asked to come over to the other side. The border guards reviewed some stuff and said I wasn't going to be allowed into Canada. To me it seems quite bureaucratic and not at all interesting ... If it were me I would have let me in. I couldn't possibly be a threat to Canada.".....

Kugler waited for five hours at the Toronto Island airport for Ayers. He was with a lawyer, but the border guard refused to allow Ayers to see the lawyer.

"The entire four or five hours he was not allowed to have representation at all. To me this is an issue of academic freedom. He could not be a threat to anyone ever. Anyone who knows anything about this man – he's a distinguished scholar at the University of Illinois and he has been involved in education reform over the past 15 years. To imagine in any way he was a threat to Canada is really absurd."

Maybe we should take Canada's example and stop letting criminals, thugs, and terrorists into our country. Boot all the illegal aliens out too while we're at it. I read there is a movement starting to get rid of the "criminal" illegal aliens. They estimate there are about 450,000 of them. Well, wait just a minute here! THEY ARE ALL CRIMINAL. The definition says so. Anyone who is here illegally IS A CRIMINAL! If you break the law, ANY law, you are a criminal. What is so f###ing hard to understand?

Iraqis views on Iraqi Elections

An Iraqi citizen whose blog I read faithfully has had his work published in the New York Times, along with two other Iraqis. These three articles are their personal insights into the Provencial elections in Iraq last Saturday. I strongly recommend anyone looking for the truth, not just MSM's opinionated rubbish, to check out these fine works. Here is just a short sample of Dr. Mohammed's post that was not part of the article.

I went back from the polling center with my wife to our friends' house, and there we found some other friends of us and we took this photo that speaks almost everything….a group of real Iraqis; Sunnis, Shiites and a Kurd who all are united in friendship and in purple fingers, what a nice day it was, we had lots of fun and some useful political conversations.

The primary results till now shows the winning of Maliki at the first place then Dr.Ayad Alwai in the second place…If this will be the final results, then I'll be satisfied, the party I think is the best among the available candidates will take the second place; that's good for me.
And Maliki in my opinion is bad but he is much better than Dawa party with their Hakeem, and better than Sadriasts and Dr.Jaffari.
Well, I hope the candidates that people have elected and placed their faith in will not let us down.

Please take the time to read his entire post at "Last of Iraqis" and then follow this link for the full article, with all three op.eds at the N.Y.Times. You won't be disappointed!

These two pictures are both from Dr. Mohammed's blog. Five fingers dipped in blue. Two are Sunni, two are Shiite, and the last is Kurd. Five blue fingers. Five happy people. Five good friends. Who would have thought it. MSM, you have it all wrong. This kind of story DOES sell as well, or better, than the lies and half-truths you feed us on a daily basis. Try it sometime and see for yourself. Try the FRONT page next time!!

Daschle withdraws as nominee for HHS secretary

Here's the news we expected and hoped for!

WASHINGTON – Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination on Tuesday to be President Barack Obama's Health and Human Services secretary, faced with problems over back taxes and potential conflicts of interest.

"Now we must move forward," Obama said in a written statement accepting Daschle's request to be taken out of consideration. A day earlier, Obama had said he "absolutely" stood by Daschle.

Daschle, the former Senate Democratic leader, said he would have not been able to operate "with the full faith of Congress and the American people."

"I am not that leader, and will not be a distraction" to Obama's agenda, he said.

His stunning statement came less than three hours after another Obama nominee also withdrew from consideration, and also over tax problems. Nancy Killefer, nominated by Obama to be the government's first chief performance officer, said she didn't want her bungling of payroll taxes on her household help to be a distraction.

Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Daschle's former Democratic colleagues had rallied to his defense in the wake of questions about a series of tax issues. Last month, Daschle paid $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest.

"Tom made a mistake, which he has openly acknowledged," Obama said. "He has not excused it, nor do I. But that mistake and this decision cannot diminish the many contributions Tom has made to this country."

Daschle also was facing questions about potential conflicts of interests related to the speaking fees he accepted from health care interests. Daschle also provided advice to health insurers and hospitals through his post-Senate work at a law firm.

The withdrawal comes after Republicans and major newspapers questioned Obama's decision to stick with Daschle.

Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina said Obama was "losing credibility" with his statements in support of Daschle. "Part of leadership is recognizing when there has been a mistake made and responding quickly," the Republican said.

In an editorial, The New York Times described Daschle's ability to move "cozily between government and industry" as a cloud over any role he might play in changing the nation's health care system.

The Chicago Tribune opined that "Daschle is dispensable" and suggested that "to proclaim high standards and then suspend them exposes Obama to charges that he is either hypocritical or obtuse.

At the rate they're going, we will soon have an all-Republican cabinet. Wouldn't THAT be sweet? Hopefully, there will be at least a couple of token dems left in there. This circus gets better and better every day!

Republican Secretary of Commerce?

Many of you may have heard by now that Republican Senator Judd Gregg from New Hampshire is the likely NObama pick for Secretary of Commerce. I am from N.H. and know the Senator slightly and know OF him quite well. He would be a GREAT pick for this position, however, our Governor is a Democrat, moderate, but still a Democrat. What a dilemma. As you might imagine, the left is already salivating at the prospects of 60 Senators. They might just be having an illusion however as the Governor and the Senator are rather friendly. I think if The Senator can get the Governor to agree to a Republican replacement (a good possibility), he can be trusted to keep his word. There are rumors that the Governor is considering a run for the Senate himself in 2010, and so it would make sense for him to appoint a Republican, especially one that he felt he could beat later on (read as a conservative!). Governor Lynch is a savvy politician and I think this will be the likely scenario.

Here is a link you should follow to get the story.

"Leading the pack to replace the fiscal conservative was his former chief of staff and a veteran of the Reagan White House, Bonnie Newman. Officials expect New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat, would name her to fill the final two years of Gregg's term and then would not seek the seat for a full term in 2010."

Former Republican state House Speaker Doug Scamman, a Governor Lynch friend and ally is considered a good bet also. I personally would like to see him consider Warren Rudman, a former N.H. Senator and a true conservative.

I took the time tonight to rattle off an e-mail to the Senator expressing my concerns. If anyone from N.H. reads this, consider doing the same thing please. Here is my e-mail message:

Dear Senator Gregg:

It may be premature, but let me congratulate you for being considered for the position of Secretary of Commerce. It is a position that I know you would excel in. Your fiscal conservatism is just what the country needs right now. With that said however, I have to ask you please do not accept the position unless you have a guarantee from Governor Lynch that you will be replaced by a Republican.

Power in Washington is so lop-sided right now that we just cannot allow it to get worse. If you were to be replaced with a Democrat and if Franken ends up seated, I don't have to tell you how fast every liberal program the left is trying to get would be railroaded through.

Thank you so much for the consideration I know you will, and probably already are, giving this request.

Your long time supporter,

Joe (omitted last name for blog)

I am planning to e-mail the Governor also. We in N.H. are mostly moderate people. The parties have their differences, but, for the most part we do actually get along. I even voted for this Democrat Governor. The Republican just didn't cut it for me.
